I am still trying to locate my Eliza Jane "Lide" Dalne (Dane) parents. I have an obituary from the McConnelesville Herald and Morgan County Democrat from April 16, 1942 page ten. It was copied for me and they placed the two articles on the same paper. The original Is at the Historical Society in McConneIsville, Ohio..

Mrs. Eliza Jane Scott dies Wednesday
Mrs Eliza Jane Scott, oldest resident of the county, who would have been 100 years of age on 15 of next month (May 15,1842 born) died at 4:15 AM at the home of her grandaughter Mrs. Fred Hammon of Meigsville township. Mrs. Scott was one of the most unusual examples of longevity ever in Morgan County and was able to vote last fall.... ..Mrs Scott's grandmother also lived lo the ripe old age of 99 years. Mrs Scott was a daughter of the late Edward and Catherine McCormick Shanks Dane of Perry county, her mother passing away when the daughter Eliza was 11 years of age. She was one of 5 children, brothers being William, Frank, and James Dane and sister Catherine Sarah of Portersville.
In girlhood, Mrs. Scott made her home for some years with her sister and with her grandfather Smith near Morganville. On October 14, 1660, six months after the outbreak of the War of the Rebellion, Eliza Dane was united in marriage to Hazekiah Scott, the marriage being performed by Elder Dye of the McConnelsville Christian Church at the home of Grandfather Smith near Wolf Creek. They went into housekeeping at Morganville and became the parents of Charles, Elmer, Delia, and Ella Jane. Following Mr. Scotts death in 1895 Mrs. Scott took up weaving as a means of livelihood an occupation which she enjoyed just as both her mother and grandmother had followed this trade before her. Mrs. Scott joined the Church of Christ at age 15 years. Funeral services will be held at the Main St Church of Christ at 2'oclock. Interment is at the Wolf Creek Cemetery.
